As some of you may know, we've moved and now are almost settled. I was having some trouble writing in the turmoil and thought it best to just let my blog slide for a while. Well, now I'm back and I have so much news. First of all, my garden sucks. There is a big papus bush right in the middle of it and, knowing that it's going to be hell to remove it properly is really taking my gardening motivation away. I did manage to get my bulbs back from my other garden and will plant them this fall for sure but as for the rest of it, we'll see.
One of the big bonuses of moving was that I get an office for my writing. I have been busy all month getting it set up and now it is almost completed. I love it! I have my Coke collection out; two bookshelves with most of my books displayed; I have a little zen corner with the water fountain made from rocks our kids had collected when they were young; a large desk for my computer and all of my writing books (it also has large drawers which double as a filing cabinet); and there are pictures on the walls. We painted it blue which is very calming and comfortable. The last thing I am going to add is a love seat so that I have a quiet place to sit and read. The whole thing is just perfect in my opinion, just what I always wanted.
The rest of the house is coming along nicely as well. We painted the living room a light green and the kitchen and dining room is yellow. It all goes together well and blends with all of our furniture. We painted Laura's room a light purple and Kyle went with a dark red (lots of primer when we move out) and it looks great.
Another surprise when we moved was that our plants love our new place. They get a lot more light than our old unit and they are growing like crazy. Susan has had a prayer plant since she was very young and we thought we lost it but it sprouted up a couple of weeks ago and now has four new leaves coming up. We also have a lily which has never done very well. We cut it right back after we moved in and now it has new leaves sprouting off of every stem.
Moving has been a long process and we still have a lot of work to do but it is finally feeling like home. I don't really think that I'll get to my garden much this year, that will have to wait until next. Everything in its own good time I guess.
