A Season Late

I haven't posted any pictures for a long time and my blog is looking very plain with the only content being text. These pictures are a couple of months old now but they are still beautiful. They are pictures of my garden in front of the unit we just moved out of. Last fall I planted some tulip and daffodil bulbs which grew into a magnificent display of Spring and birth of a new season. I was thrilled when the first plants started sprouting and even more when they started to bloom. It was perfect.

On Mother's Day, Laura went out and picked a bunch of them to give to Susan because they were all in full bloom. It was a splendiferous move to bring this floral life into our house because we had moved to our new unit at that point. It brought a "welcome home" feeling to the place.

When the tenants moved into our old unit, they worked on the garden right away and I asked if I could have my bulbs back, so she dug them up for me. She also gave me the hydrangea which was in the corner. Now I just have until October to do something with my present garden space (the time which I have to replant my bulbs). The hydrangea is sad because I keep forgetting to water it and the only other plant in my garden is an ugly, giant papas bush which takes up three quarters of the garden. I've been told that to dig up the papas that I'll need to get as much of it out that I can and then bleach what may remain of the roots to make sure that it doesn't come back. What a hassle, which is my biggest reason for not getting to it right away.

Time For Another Change

I guess I'll have to change my profile again, at least concerning my job. I am now being moved completely into the grocery department, once they replace me in receiving and file maintenance.

My pay grade is a supervisor and they would like me to be in more of a supervisory position rather than filling in for other positions, they could get a lower pay grade to do that. This is fine with me and actually I'm quite excited about it. I will be getting my own aisle to take care of which is the paper and cleaning products aisle. I did my first order with the Telxon the other day and also did a few plan-a-grams. Whenever I have a grocery shift I'm in my aisle, taking care of it and trying to get my back stock under control because no one is really looking after it at present except for me. I still have receiving and file maintenance shifts which makes it difficult but I do what I can.

The only downfall is that I will have to do one or two closing shifts per week, but that could turn out good as well because I'll have time to do some things that I need to do in the morning, before I have to work at 2:00pm. The upside is that I won't have any more six o'clock in the morning start times. The earliest I'll have to start is seven and some of the shifts start at eight and nine. That will be very nice for a change.

Moving

As some of you may know, we've moved and now are almost settled. I was having some trouble writing in the turmoil and thought it best to just let my blog slide for a while. Well, now I'm back and I have so much news. First of all, my garden sucks. There is a big papus bush right in the middle of it and, knowing that it's going to be hell to remove it properly is really taking my gardening motivation away. I did manage to get my bulbs back from my other garden and will plant them this fall for sure but as for the rest of it, we'll see.

One of the big bonuses of moving was that I get an office for my writing. I have been busy all month getting it set up and now it is almost completed. I love it! I have my Coke collection out; two bookshelves with most of my books displayed; I have a little zen corner with the water fountain made from rocks our kids had collected when they were young; a large desk for my computer and all of my writing books (it also has large drawers which double as a filing cabinet); and there are pictures on the walls. We painted it blue which is very calming and comfortable. The last thing I am going to add is a love seat so that I have a quiet place to sit and read. The whole thing is just perfect in my opinion, just what I always wanted.

The rest of the house is coming along nicely as well. We painted the living room a light green and the kitchen and dining room is yellow. It all goes together well and blends with all of our furniture. We painted Laura's room a light purple and Kyle went with a dark red (lots of primer when we move out) and it looks great.

Another surprise when we moved was that our plants love our new place. They get a lot more light than our old unit and they are growing like crazy. Susan has had a prayer plant since she was very young and we thought we lost it but it sprouted up a couple of weeks ago and now has four new leaves coming up. We also have a lily which has never done very well. We cut it right back after we moved in and now it has new leaves sprouting off of every stem.

Moving has been a long process and we still have a lot of work to do but it is finally feeling like home. I don't really think that I'll get to my garden much this year, that will have to wait until next. Everything in its own good time I guess.
