Prodigy
Yesterday Susan and I were standing in line at Starbucks and there was a woman with a young boy in a stroller ahead of us. He had beautiful curly, red hair. He was reading things on the product signs, but he looked much too young to be reading. I asked the mother how old he was and she told me he was just three. I said that is amazing, but she said what's amazing is that he can do addition and started reading numbers when he was eighteen months old. She explained that they don't know where he gets it from, that he just does it on his own. He loves reading and can't get enough of it. Seems like they have a little genius on their hands. It would be interesting to see if he keeps advancing at that accelerated rate as he gets older and if so, what field he branches off into.
