Printer

The other day our printer stopped working. When we tried to print something, the paper would get jammed and not go through. This was very frustrating because it is a new printer, not even a year.
I blew it out with compressed air and still it would not work. Finally I turned it onto it's side and got a mirror and a flashlight to see if something was stuck in it. To my surprise there was a licorice nib in the paper track.
I'm so glad that I did not send it in to be looked at. That would have been embarrassing.

Garden

I just planted some plants by my front door and got rid of some ugly bushes. I decided that it is about time that I did something with my trashy front yard. I dug up all the grass and transplanted the bushes in a rocky spot under some oak trees across from my door.
I planted some Irises, Heather, a Hydrangea, a Voodoo Lily and a few other things, I can't remember what they're called. I also planted some Tulip bulbs.
I'll take a picture of it when it grows a bit and looks better. It is mainly a lot of dirt right now.

Cake Walk

Tomorrow Laura has a cake walk at school so yesterday she baked some cake. Today she put it together and iced it. Can you guess what kind of cake she made? A turtle cake of course!
I helped her with the plan and construction but she did most of the icing work and came up with the idea. Quite a little talent we have. Too bad we will not get to eat it. She has told me that this is the cake she wants for her birthday, now that she knows we can make it.

(Just a note: Laura won a cake at the cake walk and picked her own. So now we get a turtle cake for dessert. She really wanted it back because she spent two days making it.)

C-clamp

I just popped down to the Canadian Tire to buy some brake pads for my car. I remember from the last struggle with my brakes that a c-clamp is essential, so I picked up one of those as well. It was just over six dollars for a 3” clamp.

There was no one at the checkout so I thought I was going to get through quickly. The girl rang in my purchases but the clamp had no tag. I decided that I would save myself some time and just grab another one. I had originally taken the last one though, and the next size up was ten dollars. I thought about it for a minute and grabbed the bigger one.

When I returned to the till there were two people in the queue. So much for getting through quickly. I didn't sweat it. Line ups are a fact of life. No use in getting worked up over something you can't control.

The girl rang in my purchases and gave me a scratch ticket. I won ten dollars! I got my clamp for free. If I hadn't gone back to get the other clamp I'd have had to pay for the smaller one.

I like it when you get rewarded for a little drawback. Karma's a wonderful thing.

Yeti Sports

Here is a little game that I like to play. I have it on my computer and on my cell phone. It is also available for playing online but you have to register for that so that people don't scam the high scores.
Yeti Sports has ten different games but my favorite is the Pengu throw. It is just a little diversion, when I need a break from my writing routine.
If you have a favorite online game, please feel free to share it here. It is always interesting to see what other people waste their time with on the computer.
